  Want to quit Bible study

  hi i was just looking for some advice.

  i have been studying with the jw's for over a year now, and attended 2 memorials and the district/assembly conventions.

  at first, and up until very recently i truly believed what i was learning was the truth.

  Keep it simple. You haven't made any committments. You aren't a jw and are slightly (only) rated better than an outsider at this stage.

  Forget the books. Forget the questions. The longer you stay involved the deeper they will get their claws into you.

  Tell them you no longer wish to have study. Simple. They may pester for a while, but once they realise you are sincere then those people you had considered good 'friends' will drop you quicker than a hot coal. And no friends is certainly a better option.

  Or, you could opt for black sheep's sound advice and tell them to bugger off, leave, piss off, or whatever phrase you may fancy.

  Cheeses. Helpful advice at little or no cost.

  The last meeting you ever went to.......

  i don't know whether this has ever been asked, so i apologize if i'm repeating.. what did you do at the last meeting you ever attended?

  did you stay for the whole thing?

  what made you realize that this was your last meeting, or did you not know it would be your last meeting??.

  The last meeting I ever went to in a kh was by far the best I ever attended, even though I recall nothing about it, or even when it was exactly (late 80's most likely. By that time I was so completely over the jws that it mattered not one iota.

  Are there jw 'safehouses'?

  perhaps a member can provide some details regarding this matter.. my wife mentioned to me this evening that one of her younger sisters who is sort of close to the jw parents said that her parents had 'let the cat out of the bag' by stating that their house is a designated safe house in the event of a catastrophe (i assume this would be termed a natural disaster as opposed to a great trib type event).. is this true of the dubs?

  could it be only an australian 'thing', or is it a world wide directive of the gb?.

  Are former Witnesses JERKS at times?

  i recently came across something online, in which someone was talking to the society to complain about another 'active' witness, not getting in trouble.

  what i learned, as i listened and read the follow-up.

  was that the person calling was a former witness, disfellowshipped for something they thought was unfair.

  Any shit, distress, problems, anxiety, that can be visted upon jws by any person, in any way shape or form, by whatever means available, is to be applauded.

  of the congregation i spent my life in i would say a good 75% had nervous breakdowns at some point.

  and often there was never really a obivous reason for it.

  well not that we jw's could understand at the time.. even the queen bee's/ elderettes were not immune to this.. what about you?.

  I like being shunned - how about you?

  it was painful at first but now i see the advantages of not having needy relatives spending the weekend with me and scoffing my food and raiding my bar.

  my wife is happier too.

  it's like having a heavy rucksack removed.. i have 39 jw relatives and 38 of them shun me along with the army of ex-friends who remain in the tower.

  Shunning? Love it! It comes with a particular sense of prestige, knowing that people take notice of you. Not that they care for you in any way, mind you.

  For me, it means I don't have unnecessary contact with idiots who were at one time, deemed to have been 'friends' and members of the same church group.

  If I choose to have any interaction with them (which is seldom, and often unpleasant for them) it is done on my terms.

  In any case, I can barely recall many of the former jws in my old 'congo' and I don't know, and do not wish to know, any of the 'new' ones who have 'come in' over the intervening years since my departure to the dark side. They might shun me too. But I wouldn't know the difference between them and any other ignorant arsehole.
